| Driving Instructions to Return to U.S. |
Returning from the base to Tijuana you will drive about 2 1/2 hours north to
Ensenada.
From Ensenada to Tijuana (about 1 1/2 hours) you will go through 3 toll
booths.
As you get close to Tijuana you will come to the third, and last toll booth
between Ensenada and Tijuana. From the last toll booth to your first exit
off the freeway you will go about 2 miles. Your first exit will go to the right
and you'll swing around to another freeway. Follow all signs that say, "San
Diego". (See photo to right please)
After taking the exit mentioned above, you'll go up a steep hill and then
drive about 3 miles along the border fence and come to a tee which has a
stop light. Here you're very close to the border. Get into the second lane
from the far right hand lane. Take a left at the tee. (See second photo to
right please)
After you take a left at the tee, you'll want to be in the second lane from the
right. Just after turning there will be an option to go to the right of some
concrete road dividers. Don't go there! Stay just to the left of the
dividers and follow alongside them. About 100 yds. ahead you will exit to
your right (staying alongside the dividers which will be on your right)
which will take you up on an offramp and bring you on top of an
overpass headed to the border. The best lanes to be in are the two on
the right. They move faster even though they might be longer at first.
From here it's just a waiting game. Be patient and have your
identification ready when you get to the gate.
Please note; we are currently encouraging teams to return back
through Tecate at this time as the border is much smaller and
takes less time. We'll be putting photos here soon to help with this
route.
